Steps for Netgear Nighthawk Setup through the App

- Take off the antenna’s cap and then screw it into the router’s back.
- Place the outside antennas at 45° angles and position the center antenna vertically.
- Unplug your modem from the power to turn it off.
- If the modem has a battery backup, remove the battery from the device.
- Connect the ethernet cable to the yellow port on the back of the router.
- Connect the other end of the ethernet cable to the modem.
- Plug the modem into the electric switch to turn it back on.
- Press the power button on the router to turn it on.
- Wait for the router’s power light to turn solid white.
- On an iPad or other device, connect to the router’s WiFi network.
On the bottom of the Nighthawk print the network name (SSID) and password (network key).
- Start up an online browser and wait for the NETGEAR genie to load on its own.

- If prompted, log in with the admin username and password.
The default username is admin and the default password is password. The NETGEAR genie will prompt you to change this information during step 15.

- Plug in your router and connect it to your modem using an Ethernet cable.
- Check the router is powered on.

- Find the router name (SSID) and connect by entering the Default WiFi password.

- Open a Browser and type in the default Ip Address.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete configuring the Nighthawk router.

Nighthawk Router Setting
- Connect to the router’s WiFi network from an iPad or Android device.
- Open a web browser and visit www.netgear.com
- Enter the admin username and password.
- To set up the router, choose a choice on the basic homepage.
- Set up a guest network, change network names and passwords, and take care of other Nighthawk settings here.
- Go to Advanced > Administration > Set Password to change the admin username and password.

Reset the Netgear Router
